Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
During our Flexible Instruction Days the Elementary Physical Education Department teachers want to give you an overview of how physical education time will work. PE classes are held three times per week with the exception of Kindergarten which meets once per week. On your child’s PE day (which can be found on this PE website) students should strive to get 30 minutes of physical activity.
For your review, on the Home Assignments tab, we have included resources which will aid in accomplishing this goal. The first document is a list of suggested physical activities (indoor and outdoor) which you can choose from, depending on the sports equipment and resources you have available to you. All activities should be supervised by an adult (ie. parent, guardian, grandparent, etc.) for safety. You may choose several of these activities together in order to accomplish the recommended 30 minutes (ie. warm-up exercises 10 minutes, go for a walk 10 minutes, Do a Cosmic Kids Yoga workout 10 minutes = 30 minutes total)
The second document is a list of our class warm-up activities we do each class. It is recommended that you always begin your physical activity by doing your usual, class warm-ups first.
The last document is a physical activity log. Please make a copy of the document for yourself first and then record the activities you do on your PE days with your parent/guardian’s help. Please include your name, date of the activities and what you did. You may include more than one activity in the description box.Write how many minutes you did for each activity. Additionally, you may choose to read a health or fitness article that is listed on page 2 of suggested activities. Write which article you read or your parent/guardian read to you on the log. At the end of the week with your parent/guardian’s help, please submit the completed log to the PE teacher as an attachment via email for review and teacher feedback.
If you have any questions about the FID Physical Education class format, please do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher for help or ideas for exercising. Try to get your parents/guardians, siblings, and other family members to exercise with you! It is a great way for all of you to bond and stay healthy together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Martini [email protected]
